Folks we are almost exiting 2022. How has the year been? If you are like me you may be thinking about stuff that you failed to accomplish and places that you didn’t go which were part of the itinerary this year. Why is it easier to belittle our accomplishments and magnify our misses? Life is a series of hits and misses. The goal is to be humble in the hits and learn from the misses.  One of my hits (which I’m already forgetting about) was summitting Kilimanjaro in July. What are some of your hits for 2022?

For the next three Fridays before my wifi disappears, I’m thinking we just share quotes and phrases that have lit our path this year. I hope that they will pump us more for 2023. My preferred mode of learning is in small doses. I like short stories, articles and quotes. Even my favourite Bible verses are short ones, well apart from ‘Jesus wept’ hehe. Maybe it’s my attention span that’s not too long. And I see it vividly in my baby sharks. I’m still amazed about how mummy shark can read a book of a thousand pages plus over a few days and finish it. May those brains be downloaded in our children as they continue growing. Then I don’t have to spend a fortune on tuition as my father did on me.

So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs.

God’s strong hand is on you; He’ll promote you at the right time.

Live carefree before God; He is most careful with you.

1 Peter 5: 6-7

This verse speaks to my situation. Sir God is reminding us to just chill in him and wait our turn. And to enjoy the waiting. Patience doesn’t come naturally to the human race. This scripture is assuring us that God’s got our back and He will come through just in time. And that’s a reminder for every season. Do live carefree in 2023 folks for our creator is most careful with you.

For years you have lived as your Parents’ You,

Your friends’ you

Your teachers’ you

Your partners’ you

And your bosses’ you, but

Where on earth are you?

Robert Harper.

This is one of those quotes you say, “let me just leave this here. I came across this quote from one of those mailing list emails that jaza my inbox. And it jumped at me to the extent that it made it to the list of most influential quotes of 2022.

For so long we live life on other people’s terms. What’s even more tragic is that many of us don’t realise that we are living according to the script of others. The few who dare find themselves while they still have the chance are the ones who live epic lives. Because the best script to live by is the one written for you and maybe by you.

Let’s share more deep lines next week. Looking forward to hearing yours folks.

  1. Mitch says:

    As Isaac Newton once said, Íf I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of a giant.’

    We may all never get a chance to tell you this, but this is you in our lives. The inspirations/motivations/open conversations ccolour our lives in various ways.

    Keep on doing this….

    Hey Lucas, that quote is so apt, I wish id seen it years ago. Anyway there is time to find “me”. Perhaps it time to “accept yourself, love yourself and keep moving forward. If you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down” Roy T. Bennett

  3. Njoki says:

    Minnie Riperton said, Your wealth can be stolen, but the precious riches buried deep in your soul cannot.
    It has a lovely year with you faithfully ensuring we have something to look forward to on Friday. Blessings and looking forward to sharing more lessons in 2023 as we live fully.

  4. Njagi says:

    In the midst of the storm though, be still and you will hear what the storm is telling you.
    And when you are clear you can smile in the midst of that storm. That’s when your faith, patience and courage will carry you to the next level.

    “We may be hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed;
    perplexed, but not in despair;
    persecuted, but not forsaken;
    struck down, but not destroyed..”
